HSE STATEMENT
Atlas GeoSolutions is dedicated to ensuring the adequate maintenance of the environment where it carries out its activities and providing a safe and healthy workplace for its employees, subcontractors and all others affected by its operations. This shall be done through the implementation of the company’s comprehensive HSE policies. HSE shall be given priority at all times by the company and same shall be required by all subcontractors.
Safe operating procedures (SOP-B) shall be designed by the company to meet or exceed legal requirements in Nigeria and elsewhere, and where no standards are at the moment defined, the company shall meet or exceed industry-wide best operating practices.
Atlas GeoSolutions shall at all times consider HSE aspects of our business of equal importance as the company’s other objectives.
Safety meetings, internal audits, review meetings and general HSE communication shall be adopted to maintain a high level of HSE awareness and all staff are actively encouraged to participate in HSE conduct and management by means of achieving corporate HSE objectives and standards which shall be reviewed and appraised regularly.
Line managers and supervisors shall be responsible for ensuring that all staff and subcontractors are aware of and have ready access to all legislative requirements, company policies and work procedures as well as seeing their implementation. Line managers shall ensure that staff are provided the proper training as well as other means to ensure compliance with these requirements.
All staff and subcontractors are required to become familiar with, adhere to and promote the company policies throughout all aspects of their work. In addition, each individual shall have the opportunity to suggest changes and improvements by means of internal communications directly to a nominated company representative. The company acknowledges that it is only through the freedom to make comment and flow of information, that risks may be identified and minimized.
Risks shall also be minimized by investigating incidents to determine their costs and causes, and to determine actions and policies, which shall suitably prevent recurrence. Policies and issues arising from their application shall be regularly reviewed at all levels to ensure compliance and suitability. These investigations and reviews shall be documented, circulated company-wide and followed up. Provisions shall be made to ensure that the best possible standards are maintained. In situations where a hazard cannot be totally removed by procedural of physical means, the hazard shall be properly identified by individuals responsible for that area of work, communicated to all concerned and documented for future reference by personnel likely to encounter the same hazard. Such hazards shall be in subject of frequent review.
Following from these, Atlas GeoSolutions undertakes to:
- PROMOTE its conviction that all accidents can be avoided
- TRAIN its personnel in health, safety and protection of the environment, before and during all types of activity
- INSIST on personal protective equipment being worn systematically
- DEVELOP, in association with the proper authorities, emergency or evacuation procedures to minimize the consequences of accidents
- CONDUCT research to establish procedures which improve health, safety and protection of the environment
- Have activity sites CHECKED regularly by management and independent auditors
- DEFINE practical means for taking into account and minimizing the impact of our activity on the environment
- INCORPORATE these principles into the responsibilities of its management
